Event Details

NARM Entertainment Law Conference Series is coming to Music City.

With support from CMA, we’ll bring the country’s top music and media attorneys and copyright and licensing specialists together to discuss the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, iPhone jailbreaking, copyright termination, the First Sale Doctrine, and much more.

CLE accreditation for 3.75 credits has been approved by the Tennessee Bar Association.

1:10-2:10 PM — Do Elections Matter? Views from Washington, D.C. One Week After Election Day
A panel of bipartisan Washington veterans who represent many music industry stakeholders will share their reactions to the 2010 elections, and the likely impact on music, media and copyright legislation in 2011 and 2012.

2:10-3:10 PM — Marybeth Peters Keynote Interview

In one of the final public events of her near-record 16-year tenure as United States Register of Copyrights, the Honorable Marybeth Peters will make a keynote appearance at NARM’s Entertainment Law Conference in Nashville. Register Peters will discuss some of the remarkable events of her 40+ year career in the Copyright Office, the many twists and turns in U.S. and global copyright law and policy which she has shaped and witnessed, and her ideas about the future of copyright law and copyright industries which in recent years have been challenged from many directions.

3:30-4:30 PM — The Developing Storm of Copyright Termination: Who Wins, Who Loses, and How Will it Really Work?
This panel will discuss the policy rationale underlying copyright termination, the practical challenges and costs of exercising termination rights, and the business opportunities that termination creates.
